THE ROLE
Reporting to the Payroll Team Lead, the Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all payroll and benefits activities for multiple business units, including compliance with applicable laws, agreements and contracts, payroll reporting and processing and systems enhancements. The Payroll Administrator responsibilities include processing payroll, updating and maintaining payroll spreadsheets, and managing internal and external payroll-related inquiries.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Full-cycle bi-weekly payroll and benefits administration for six payrolls comprised of salary and hourly employees.
- Remittance and reporting of all statutory and benefit payments and remittances in compliance with regulations and contractual requirements.
- Reconciliation and remittance of WCB payments
- Year-end activities including producing, reviewing, balancing and filing of: T4, T4A, T5, PIER reports and WCB).
- Administration of new hires, onboarding, terminations, and all payroll changes
- Group benefit and retirement savings program enrollments, administration, and reconciliation of statements and taxable benefits including Auto Tax.
- Maintains payroll systems and related interfaces (Time entry, Viewpoint, accounting, external service providers).
- Administers payroll and benefits payments, journal entries and billings.
- Prepares, reports and tracks changes to payroll, benefit and government compliance issues.
- Develop and run queries and reports from payroll system for various analysis
- Manages and reports on payroll audit procedures for both internal and external audits.
- Answer and assist employees with payroll and benefit questions.
- Reception coverage and any other administrative tasks as required.
What You Bring
To be successful in the role applicants will have:
- Minimum 2 years full cycle payroll experience.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is an asset.
- Comprehensive understanding of payroll legislation, employment standards and payroll accounting.
- Experience Vista by Viewpoint is an asset.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and delegate work.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decisions making skills.
- Ability to work with highly confidential, sensitive information in a professional manner.
