Job summary

Public Works in Miller Lake, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Payroll and Accounting Clerk on a term basis to process payroll and accounting documents under tight deadlines. You will verify time reports, handle travel expenses, and manage vendor invoices in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has four years of related experience, knowledge of payroll principles, and proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing tools; SAP/S4 Hana familiarity is desirable.

Qualifications

• Four years of related experience in a computerized payroll and accounting environment.
• Working knowledge of accounting and payroll principles.
• Spreadsheet software, word processing, and email applications.

Responsibilities

• Enter hours for CUPE payroll, verify time entry reports, and enter travel expenses and reimbursements for employees.
• Process vendor invoices and credit memos.
• Enter journal vouchers, inventory issues and reconcile reports.
• Ensure proper documentation and signing authority are received.
• Provide backup coverage for the payroll and accounting team and rotating relief for the Secretary.
