Job summary

Service Nova Scotia is seeking a Corporate Payment Officer in Halifax to manage payment production, data entry and SAP-based reconciliations. The role supports the Operational Accounting Division and requires strong accounting training and SAP experience.

The position is permanent, full-time, with evening shifts as rotating hours. Applicants will be evaluated through exams, interviews and references. Competitive benefits are offered by the Nova Scotia government.

Qualifications

• Two years post secondary accounting training and 4 years related experience in financial administration.
• Experience in interpreting and applying policies in a large, dynamic organization.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills to analyze complex data.
• Strong client focus and interpersonal skills for internal and external clients.
• Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems for financial modules.
• Proficiency with PC tools, databases, internet apps, spreadsheets and word processing.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Ability to exercise initiative, use judgment, reconcile accounts and troubleshoot.

Responsibilities

• Payment production (cheque/electronic/foreign/recurring) including accounts payable and receivable inflows.
• Payment replacements and data entry on computerized accounting systems.
• Monitor and reconcile file uploads from sub-systems to SAP.
• SAP testing and support to the provincial financial community.
• Support to program areas on business processes and to the general public.
