Job summary

The Salvation Army Canada is seeking an experienced payroll professional to oversee day-to-day payroll operations at the Territorial Headquarters and support divisions nationwide.

You will manage deductions, year-end processes, reporting, and payroll disbursement cycles, ensuring accuracy and compliance while collaborating with ministries, units and staff across Canada. The role requires a meticulous, service‑oriented approach and knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations.

Qualifications

• Three-year college diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum two years of full-cycle payroll experience, including unionized Canada-wide environments.
• Knowledge of payroll processes, HR systems, and compliant practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll operations and reporting, ensuring accurate and timely distribution of payroll documents and outputs.
• Manage employee and officer payroll deductions, including union dues, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
• Coordinate reconciliations, remittances, and disbursements to external agencies, vendors, unions, and charities.
• Provide payroll support by addressing inquiries from employees, officers, pensioners, and units across the territory.
• Support year-end payroll activities and regulatory submissions with accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare payroll-related financial information, analyses, and reports for organizational decision-making.
• Generate payroll, salary, and budget worksheets to support workforce planning and reporting.
• Maintain payroll documentation and records for audits and regulatory reviews.
• Contribute to salary disclosures and annual financial statement information.
