Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a dedicated Patient Porter for a Casual position at the Ksyen Regional Hospital in Terrace. You will assist and transport patients, their belongings, equipment, specimens and supplies within the hospital, under supervision in line with NH policies.

In addition to patient transport, you will perform clerical, cleaning and tidying duties as required, working with professional staff to support safe, compassionate care in Northern BC.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 education and related experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and operate hospital equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist and transport patients, including deceased patients, within the hospital.
• Handle personal belongings, equipment, specimens, and supplies as directed.
• Perform clerical, cleaning, and tidying duties as needed.

Position Summary

We are currently looking for a hard working and dedicated Patient Porter to fill a Casual position at the Ksyen Regional Hospital. In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position assists and transports patients including deceased patients, their personal belongings, equipment, specimens and supplies to and from various locations within the hospital in accordance with hospital and Northern Health policies and procedures. Reports to the professional staff patient observations and interactions, as appropriate. Performs clerical, cleaning and tidying duties.

Qualfications

• Grade 10 plus one years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
