Women’s College Hospital is seeking a dedicated and dynamic professional to support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that strengthen our Learning Health System (LHS), elevate patient and family engagement, and promote meaningful knowledge dissemination across our diverse communities. In this role, you'll lead efforts to bridge clinical care, research, education, and community voices — helping to create a more responsive, equitable, and innovative health system for all.
Strategy And Planning
Summary of Duties but not limited to:
- Collaborate with the Manager, LHS to develop educational and knowledge translation (KT) goals and action plans aligned with the LHS framework.
- Support operational planning for LHS initiatives across WCH, ensuring alignment with hospital priorities and patient-centered values.
Knowledge Translation (KT) And Communication
- Work closely with researchers and clinicians to assess KT needs, co-design KT frameworks, and develop a variety of KT products (e.g., reports, infographics, social media content, blogs).
- Translate complex research findings into accessible, engaging materials tailored to patients, families, communities, and the general public.
- Deliver presentations to clinical, academic, and community audiences, promoting LHS principles and engagement.
Education And Capacity Building
- Develop and deliver educational programs on the LHS and meaningful engagement for trainees, investigators, clinicians, and staff.
- Design and facilitate training programs for patients, families, and community participants on their role in research and healthcare improvement within the LHS.
Engagement And Relationship Building
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations and patient advocacy groups.
- Facilitate connections between WCH researchers and diverse patient, family, and community stakeholders to foster inclusive collaboration.
- Lead the creation, recruitment, and management of Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs).
- Develop training materials, engagement protocols, and support resources for PFAC members.
As a role model and champion you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.

Qualifications
- PhD in a health, medical, or related discipline is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience, ideally in a research institute, hospital, or healthcare-related setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
- Proven track record of working with patient advocates or advocacy organizations, or formal training in patient and community engagement in research.
- Experience with knowledge translation frameworks, plain language writing, and health communication strategies.
- Experience developing and delivering education or training for diverse audiences, including equity-deserving groups.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, engage diverse stakeholders, and communicate effectively across disciplines.
- Demonstrated understanding of principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) and a strong commitment to applying these in engagement and research settings.
- Experience conducting community-based participatory research (CBPR) or working within patient-oriented research frameworks.
- Familiarity with ethics processes related to patient and public involvement in research.
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills; able to work effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Knowledge of current trends, challenges, and opportunities in Canadian healthcare systems, especially related to health equity and patient engagement.
- Proven attendance and punctuality.

- This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
