Job summary

William Osler Health System is seeking a Pathologist Assistant for multiple sites in Ontario. The role involves performing a variety of duties in the Pathology department, assisting with autopsies under supervision, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and production.

Candidates should have a biology degree (or pathology mastery) and strong anatomy knowledge, with experience in specimen handling and surgical photography. Travel between Osler sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Biology or Masters of Pathology, with at least two years related experience.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy and pathology procedures.
• Ability to describe, dissect, weigh and photograph specimens; perform frozen sections.
• Experience assisting with autopsies under supervision; teamwork and professionalism.
• Proficient with pathology software and equipment; strong communication skills.

Accountabilities:

• Perform a variety of duties required by the Pathology department
• Other related duties as assigned

Job qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Biology and/or Masters of Pathology or equivalent education with a minimum of two years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
• Strong knowledge of anatomy
• Demonstrated skills and ability in examining, describing, dissecting, weighing and photography of small and complex large gross surgical specimens of all tissue types
• Ability to perform frozen sections
• Assist with or perform autopsies under pathologistssupervision
• Proven ability to perform duties independently or as a team member, with high degree of motivation and independent judgment
• Familiarity with equipment and tissue processing
• Demonstrated computer proficiency(Meditech and Paradigm an asset)
• Proven written and oral communication skills
• Proven excellence working in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills and high degree of professionalism
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving ability
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high level of productivity and competence
• American Association of Pathology Assistantsregistration an asset
• Required to work at and travel between all Osler sites
• Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration

Additional information

Hours: Currently days/evenings including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Salary:
Minimum: $41.64 per hour
Maximum: $53.34 per hour
