Job summary

William Osler Health System is seeking a Pathologist Assistant for multiple Osler sites. This part-time, temporary role is scheduled for days/evenings, including weekends and holidays, with hourly pay ranging from $41.64 to $53.34.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology and/or a Master of Pathology (or equivalent) with at least two years of related experience, and will assist in gross specimen handling, staining, and autopsies under pathologist supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Biology and/or Masters of Pathology or equivalent education with a minimum of two years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Demonstrated skills and ability in examining, describing, dissecting, weighing and photography of small and complex large gross surgical specimens of all tissue types.
• Proven ability to perform duties independently or as a team member, with high degree of motivation and independent judgement.
• Familiarity with equipment and tissue processing.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency (Meditech and Paradigm an asset).
• Proven written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high level of productivity and competence.

Accountabilities:

• Perform a variety of duties required by the Pathology department
• Other related duties as assigned

• Bachelor of Science in Biology and/or Masters of Pathology or equivalent education with a minimum of two years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
• Strong knowledge of anatomy
• Demonstrated skills and ability in examining, describing, dissecting, weighing and photography of small and complex large gross surgical specimens of all tissue types
• Ability to perform frozen sections
• Assist with or perform autopsies under pathologistssupervision
• Proven ability to perform duties independently or as a team member, with high degree of motivation and independent judgement
• Familiarity with equipment and tissue processing
• Demonstrated computer proficiency(Meditech and Paradigm an asset)
• Proven written and oral communication skills
• Proven excellence working in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills and high degree of professionalism
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving ability
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high level of productivity and competence
• American Association of Pathology Assistantsregistration an asset
• Required to work at and travel between all Osler sites

Hours: Currently days/evenings including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Salary:
Minimum: $41.64 per hour
Maximum: $53.34 per hour
