Parts Technician

The Parts Technician will be responsible for delivering optimal customer service and parts knowledge to Rentals, Sales and Service Departments plus external customers. This position performs a variety of duties including checking inventory for product availability, providing parts and delivery dates to customers.

About You

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well with individuals within and outside of the organization
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Able to effectively communicate with all other departments in the facility
  • Detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and positive team attitude

Position Requirements/Qualifications

Education/ Certification:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Must have a forklift license or willing to obtain

Experience

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a heavy equipment, construction or automotive parts and/or service environment preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a Shipper Receiver role preferred
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP/Inventory Management systems
  • Mechanical aptitude or previous exposure to heavy equipment parts is an asset

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to internal customers to meet their parts needs in alignment with the company’s parts protocols and processes
  • Receive, provide and issue purchase orders and receipts of goods
  • Process shipments to customers and other branches in a timely and effective manner
  • Search part numbers using a computer or standard catalogue
  • Mark materials with identifying information to communicate parts allocations to service work orders
  • Complete all applicable inventory, work orders, PO’s, receipts of goods entry and put stock away
  • Participate in required inventory cycle counts and provide back-up support to other parts department employees as required
  • Pick and provide parts to Technicians in alignment with established processes
  • Deliver or pick up parts locally as required (in company vehicle)
  • Process shop parts, warranty parts and vendor returns
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and work area
  • Other duties as assigned
