Job summary

Planet Ford in Brampton, Ontario, is seeking a Parts Advisor to join their team. You will promote sales of parts, handle customer inquiries, and ensure a steady flow of parts to customers. Experience in the automotive environment is a plus.

The role reports to the Parts Manager and requires strong work ethics, reliability, and a willingness to learn. This full-time position includes competitive compensation and employee benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum 2 years customer service and/or cashier experience is required.
  • Familiarity with automobile parts and ability to judge interchangeability is essential.
  • Ability to navigate and utilize computers at an advanced level.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver's License and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Address all customers with parts inquiries, in person, on the phone and electronically.
  • Complete orders for Service Technicians in the Service Department.
  • Place orders in a timely fashion.
  • Inspect damaged parts brought in by customers to determine the proper replacement.
  • Identify the necessary part(s) required on the basis of the customer's description of issues.
  • Examine returned parts for defects and confer with customers about exchanging the part or processing a refund.
  • Consult catalogs for stock numbers and prices and bring parts from the stockroom.
  • Manage unpacking and marking of incoming parts and storing them in the stockroom.
  • Receive and fill telephone orders.
  • Organize catalogues and price lists to ensure it is up-to-date.
  • Maintain sales and inventory records.
  • Project a positive attitude for the benefit of our customers and fellow employees.
  • Organize cleaning tools and equipment to maintain a neat, friendly workstation.
  • Evaluate all work performed to ensure it is thorough, accurate, and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in compliance with safety standards.

Here’s what you’ll deliver:

  • Manage the unpacking and marking of incoming parts and storing them in the stockroom according to a prearranged system.
  • Receive and fill telephone orders.
  • Organize catalogues and price lists to ensure it is up-to-date.
  • Maintain sales and inventory records.
  • Project a positive attitude for the benefit of our customers and fellow employees.
  • Organize cleaning tools and equipment to maintain a neat, friendly, and tactful workstation.
  • Evaluate all work performed to ensure it is thorough, accurate, and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to execute tasks and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in adherence to company safety standards at all times.
  • Comply with all company policies, standards and procedures.
  • Other duties as required by management.

What you need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum 2 years customer service and/or cashier experience is required.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver's License and good driving record.
  • An aptitude for arithmetic, an ability to read catalogs and technical materials, and legible handwriting are all essential skills.
  • Familiarity with the function of automobile parts, including ability to judge whether or not parts are interchangeable.
  • Ability to navigate and utilize computers at an advanced level.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to thrive in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism with a positive attitude under pressure.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and work around a changing schedule.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items (50-75 lbs)

Job Type: Full Time - Permanent

Compensation (expected annual compensation): $50,000 - $90,000 (base salary plus monthly performance-based bonuses). This range includes a fixed base salary and eligibility for monthly bonuses tied to individual results and/or department performance, which may be influenced by business volumes. Actual bonus earnings vary based on performance.
