We are currently looking to hire a : Director of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging ( EDI&B) 1 – Full Time, Permanent (35 hours / week) Reports To : Chief Executive Officer The Director of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDI&B) is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and advancing the organization’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging across all areas of its operations. The Director will develop and implement EDI&B strategies that align with the organization's mission to serve equity-deserving populations— including, but not limited to, Black, Indigenous peoples, racialized communities, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, newcomers, people with disabilities, and those with lived experience of marginalization. This role will lead internal cultural transformation, build EDI&B capacity at all organizational levels, and embed anti-oppressive and trauma-informed practices into policies, programs, and services. The Director will also foster partnerships with community stakeholders to promote equity-driven health outcomes. Develop, lead, and monitor the implementation of a multi-year EDI&B strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.

  • Act as a thought leader and strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on EDI&B-related matters.
  • Participate and provide thought leadership in the Scarborough Ontario Health Team’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anit-Racism Committee.
  • Collaborate with HR and department leaders to embed EDI&B in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and retention strategies.
  • Provide training, coaching, and consultation on EDI&B topics to staff and leadership. Advocate for inclusive policies and practices in client engagement, data collection, and community outreach.
  • Support the implementation of SCHC’s Program Evaluation Policy and Community Based Research Strategy with equity impact assessments on existing and proposed programs. Community Engagement and Partnerships
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and service users to co- create solutions that address health inequities.
  • Serve as a liaison with diverse communities to strengthen trust and foster belonging.
  • Represent the organization at external meetings, panels, and networks focused on EDI&B and health equity. Building Accountability
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of EDI&B programs, including engagement, training participation, and climate survey results.
  • Oversee the staff and community taskforce responsible for advancing SCHC’s Anti-Black Racism and EDI plans.
  • Review and revise organizational policies through an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens.
  • Lead inclusive consultations with staff, volunteers, and community members to identify service barriers for equity-deserving groups.
  • Provide transparent, regular reporting to the executive and leadership teams and broader organization, using both quantitative data and qualitative feedback.
  • Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression : Deep understanding of systemic racism, colonialism, ableism, and other intersecting forms of oppression with proven experience applying this lens to policy and practice.
  • Demonstrates empathy and understanding of trauma’s impact on communities and organizations; Change Management : Skilled in leading and sustaining organizational change; adept at navigating resistance and building buy-in across teams.
  • Collaboration and Relationship-Building : Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across functions and build trust-based partnerships both internally and externally.
  • Community Engagement : Experience working with and being accountable to equity-deserving communities in a respectful, inclusive, and participatory manner.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Equity Studies, Human Rights, or a related field; Knowledge of the social determinants of health and how they intersect with systemic inequities.
