Job summary

Durham College is seeking a part-time Professor to teach in the Social Service Worker program. Courses include SOCI 1208, SSWK 1102, and SSWK 1201, with assignments based on scheduling needs.

Ideal candidates hold an undergrad in Social Work (Master’s preferred) and have at least five years of relevant experience, plus post-secondary teaching experience and commitment to student success. Compensation is on the wage grid for teaching hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum five years of recent relevant work experience.
• Post-secondary teaching experience and understanding of UDL and assessment methods.
• Experience in industry-led or community-based applied research is a plus.
• Commitment to student experience and use of current technologies to support learning.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive learning environment accommodating diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
• Apply adult education principles to engage students.
• Utilize educational technologies to support learning and manage grades; deliver hybrid/online courses.
• Develop current curriculum using effective assessment strategies.
• Ensure curriculum is up-to-date and relevant.
• Work independently and show initiative; collaborate with program team and external stakeholders.
