Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Part-time Security Guard for the Ouellette Hospital site in Windsor, ON. You will patrol grounds, screen passengers, provide directions, and respond to incidents 24/7, working with hospital staff to maintain safety.

Required are an Ontario Security License, First Aid/CPR Level C, and MOAB/UOF certifications; immunization and background checks apply. Eligible to work in Canada; training opportunities and benefits provided.

Qualifications

• Ontario Security License (valid)
• First Aid & CPR - Level C
• Diploma or coursework in Police Foundations, Protection Security & Investigations, Border Services, or Criminology
• Immunization records (Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella) and two-step TB test
• Fluent English (spoken and written)
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and MOAB
• Authorized to legally work in Canada

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital grounds and perform daily lock/unlock of facilities.
• Inspect bags or cargo with equipment or by hand.
• Search passengers with tools or by hand.
• Screen passengers at checkpoints and other procedures.
• Provide customer service and directions to visitors, patients, and staff.
• De-escalate conflicts and maintain professional conduct.
• Document daily activities and incidents accurately in reports.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and local law enforcement.
• Enforce hospital policies and visitor/patient protocols.

Site Description:

Windsor Regional Hospital’s Ouellette Campus (1030 Ouellette Ave) delivers advanced emergency, trauma, cardiac, renal, stroke, neurosurgery, and mental-health care. Security guards manage access, monitor high-traffic clinical areas, assist with emergencies, and ensure safe operations across this busy 24/7 acute-care environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site. Daily lock and unlock of facilities.
• Inspect and screen bags or cargo using equipment of hands
• Perform searches of passengers with tools or by hand
• Monitor and screen passengers through screening checkpoints and other procedures
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Diploma or working towards in Police Foundations, Protection Security & Investigations, Border Services, or Criminology is required
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
• Authorized to legally work in Canada
