Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide patient-centered nursing care in a Canadian senior living setting. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, following provincial standards and care plans to support residents’ daily needs.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, documentation accuracy and mentoring unregulated care providers, while collaborating with residents, families and colleagues to ensure high-quality service and safety.

Qualifications

• Current registration as an RPN in the applicable province.
• Experience with seniors and unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation or long-term care an asset.
• Strong communication, teamwork and customer service skills.
• Computer proficiency and MS Office experience.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required.
• Vulnerable Sector Check with CBC within six months or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented nursing care per provincial standards.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team to support residents and families.
• Implement and evaluate care plans and document changes as needed.
• Complete assessments, care plans and maintain accurate documentation.
• Coach and direct unregulated care providers with mentorship.

RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.

RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.

RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.

RPNs complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.

RPNs teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship.

What YOU bring

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
