Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Ottawa, Ontario, seeks a Registered Practical Nurse to join our on-site care team. You will provide planned, patient-centered nursing care to residents in a compassionate, holistic environment, following provincial standards of care and evidence-based practice.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential. As part of a multi-disciplinary group, you will develop and evaluate care plans, perform assessments, document changes accurately, and coach unregulated care

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario.
• Experience working with seniors and in long-term care settings.
• BCLS and First Aid certification required.
• Vulnerable Sector Check within six months or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-focused nursing care in line with provincial standards.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team to support residents and families.
• Develop and update care plans, assessments, and documentation.
• Teach and mentor unregulated care providers.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate changes to the care team.

How YOU Make a Difference

RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.

RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.

RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.

RPNs complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.

RPNs teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship.

What YOU Bring

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
