Job summary

Cogir Senior Living Ottawa is hiring Registered Practical Nurses to deliver compassionate, resident-centered care to seniors in our retirement residences. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to implement and monitor individualized care plans and ensure high-quality clinical documentation.

The role requires current RPN registration in the province, strong communication and time-management skills, and the ability to mentor unregulated care providers.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge.
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/long term care an asset.
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role.
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required.
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented nursing care in accordance with provincial standards.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team and maintain effective communication with residents, families and staff.
• Implement and evaluate care plans and make changes as required.
• Complete and ensure accurate documentation of residents' clinical assessments and care plans.
• Teach, delegate, and direct unregulated care providers with coaching and mentorship.

RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.
