Job summary

The Part-Time Recreation Labourer at the West Central Events Centre is responsible for operating ice maintenance equipment and ensuring a safe, clean facility for all users. Duties include operating Zambonis, ice edger and floor scrubbers, and supporting events and programs at the WCEC.

The role requires punctuality, ability to work with staff and the public, and knowledge of ice maintenance. A high school diploma and valid Saskatchewan driving license are expected; shift work is evenings and

Qualifications

• Arena Operator 1 & 2, Building Maintenance 1 & 2 certificates preferred.
• Refrigeration Plant knowledge is an asset.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Summary

The Part-Time Recreation Labourer position is responsible for a wide range of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the Ice Facilities at the West Central Events Centre. Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of Ice Resurfacer and maintaining a safe and clean facility for all user groups.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate equipment including, but not limited to, Zambonis, ice edger, floor scrubbers, etc.


• Ensure the facility and dressing rooms are maintained to the highest degree of cleanliness and safety for all staff, patrons, and user groups entering and using the WCEC.


• Assist in all aspects of the preparation and execution of events, programs, and projects at the WCEC.


• Always comply with the departmental procedures and ensure building standards are maintained.


• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Arena Operator 1 & 2 certificates preferred


• Building Maintenance 1 & 2 certificates preferred


• Refrigeration Plant knowledge an asset


• High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent


• Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License


• Standard First Aid & CPR


• WHMIS (will be provided upon employment)

Hours of Work

• Shift work is required, primarily evenings and weekends. Scheduled days and hours of work will be discussed with the successful candidate.

Compensation

• Starting wage: $20.55 (CUPE #2740).
