Job summary

Oxford Learning East Vancouver is seeking part-time teacher-tutors for elementary and high school students. You’ll teach reading, writing, math, and French or high school calculus/physics/chemistry/biology/English using pre-planned lessons.

No lesson planning required; training provided in our proprietary method. The role is in-person at our Vancouver centre, with after-school and evening availability and a commitment through the school year.

Qualifications

• Strong English written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to teach French is highly desired.
• Experience tutoring or teaching in K–12 settings preferred.
• Comfortable working with up to three students at a time.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 3 students at a time in Elementary or up to 2 students in Grades 9–12.
• Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
• Complete daily student communication updates and monthly progress reports.
• Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor to foster a positive learning environment.

Our hours count! Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning East Vancouver is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for roles in our learning centre for thecurrent/upcoming school year. If you love working with students, enjoy teaching language skills, and want to help others build their academic confidence, this position is perfect for you.

Position Overview: As a Teacher-Tutor at Oxford Learning, you will have the opportunity to work with Elementary students in reading, writing, math and French and/or withHigh Schoolstudents inmath (through Calculus), physics, chemistry, biology, and English. Our Teacher-Tutors do not have to worry about lesson planning, as all lessons are pre-planned. You will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods, allowing you to focus on what you do best – teaching!

Position Requirements

• Availability during after-school and evening hours (3:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
• Commitmentthrough tothe end of the school year (June 30th), with thepossibility ofcontinuing through the summer.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Third-year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
• Working towards or having a teaching certification is an asset
• Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum

Experience

• Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
• The ability to teach French is also highly desired
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities

As an Interactive Coach, you will:

• Teach up to 3 students at a time
• (Teach up to 3 students at a time in Elementary grades or up to 2 students at a time in Grades9 - 12)
• Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
• Complete daily student communication updates and monthly progress reports
• Maintain a friendly and professional demeanour at all times (create a fun learning environment)
