Job summary

A local educational institution in St. Albert is seeking a Part-Time English & Social Studies Teacher/Tutor. In this role, you will teach students at different levels, adhering to pre-planned lessons and following established methodologies. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification is preferred, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to multitask. This position requires availability for evening and Saturday sessions to engage with students effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant certification; 4th-year university students with tutoring experience considered.
• Good knowledge of K-12 curriculum.
• Some teaching/tutoring experience at K-12 level.

Responsibilities

Job description

Part‑Time English & Social Studies Teacher / Tutor – Oxford Learning St. Albert

Employment type: Part‑time
Pay: $17.00 per hour (starting rate).
Location: Oxford Learning, 107‑1 Hebert Road, St. Albert, AB.
In‑person only; relocation packages are not available.
Vulnerability‑sector screening is mandatory.

Position Requirements

All teacher‑tutors work during after‑school and evening hours (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm) as well as Saturdays (10:00 am – 3:00 pm). A commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through the summer is even better. Students expect reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field; fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
• Teaching certification is an asset.
• Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum.
• Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten‑to‑Grade‑12 (or equivalent) level.
• Strong English written and oral communication skills; ability to guide students’ understanding.
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.

Responsibilities (Position Details)

• Fill in post‑lesson notes.
• Complete daily student communication updates.
• Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
