Job description

High School Math & Science Tutor

Oxford Learning St. Albert is seeking part‑time teacher‑tutors to provide tutoring in grades 9–12 mathematics and science. The role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with students and are passionate about helping them succeed.

Position Requirements

Teacher‑tutors work after‑school and evening hours (4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) and occasional Saturdays (10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.). A commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through the summer is even better. The position is in‑person; relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
  • University students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 math and science curriculum, including Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry, Calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at the Grade 9‑12 (or equivalent) level.
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills.
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.
Responsibilities
  • Teach up to three students at a time at different level(s).
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Fill in post‑lesson notes and complete daily student communication updates.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
