Job summary

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking a part-time Educational Assistant to support elementary students in grades 1–6 at Elsie Yanik. The position offers 12.5–15.5 hours per week, with start date ASAP.

The successful candidate will hold an Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma and may need to obtain NVCI Level A&B. They will work under teacher guidance, collaborate with CST and a multi-disciplinary team, and help implement adaptive learning strategies.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma required.
• May be required to obtain NVCI Level A&B.

Responsibilities

• Support students' growth in cognition, communication, physical and social development.
• Support and/or implement teacher directed programming.
• Work collaboratively under guidance of the teacher, CST and multi-disciplinary team.
• Implement specialist strategies (OT, PT, SLP, etc.) to meet learning goals.
• Apply behaviour management and educational strategies to facilitate learning.
• Communicate effectively with students using age-appropriate positive reinforcement and school behaviour strategies.
• Observe student behaviour with focus on positive outcomes and mitigate negatives.
• Provide structure to facilitate completion of learning outcomes.
• Assist with use of adaptive and learning technologies.
