Job summary

Community Living Central York is seeking a part-time Support Worker to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities, enabling personal goals and community participation.

This role involves days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays with an hourly rate of $19.10–$23.49. You will work under the Supports Manager, support behavioral needs, complex medical care, and foster independence within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• DSW or equivalent, minimum two years with intellectual disability.
• Ability to support behavioral needs and protocols
• Ability to support complex medical needs (G-tube and tracheotomy care)
• Experience with mental health issues and high anxiety situations
• Solid understanding of CPI and verbal de-escalation
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Current First Aid, CPR and Non-violent Crisis Intervention certificates
• Valid G driver’s license, insurance and reliable vehicle
• Current Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months)

Responsibilities

• Support people with an intellectual disability to achieve personal goals.
• Facilitate relationships and community participation.
• Respond to behavioral needs and protocols as trained.
• Provide care related to complex medical needs (G-tube, tracheotomy) as needed.
• Report to Community Living Supports Manager and collaborate with the team.

Founded in 1954, Community Living Central York is a non-profit, charitable organization which provides support to people who have an intellectual disability. The organization is under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of people who receive support, family members and other members of the community.

REPORTING TO: Community Living Supports Manager

HOURS: Part Time Hours - Days, Evenings, Overnights, Weekends and Holidays

HOURLY RATE: $19.10 - $23.49

• Previous experience supporting people who have mental health issues and dealing with high anxiety situations
