Candidates should have a Food Handler's Certificate, and a Red Seal is preferred. Experience with large-scale cooking and therapeutic diets is essential, along with the ability to lift heavy items and work within budget and timelines.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in healthcare or retirement settings.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Ability to work with special/therapeutic diets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or supervise the preparation and delivery of all foods for residents, guests and staff.
• Review menus and production sheets; prepare and serve meals attractively.
• Ensure proper food handling techniques throughout service.
• Complete daily temperature audits for fridges, freezers, storerooms; record results.
• Prepare and serve foods for therapeutic/special diets per planned menus.
• Record substitutions and adhere to daily production charts within budget.
• Follow health and safety regulations and participate in training.
