PART-TIME “ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR” - AQUATICS

Reporting to: Supervisor of Aquatics and Recreation Programs

Department: Aquatics

Classification: Part Time; Unionized

Salary Range: $17.19 - $17.72 as per Schedule "A"

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in instructing Lifesaving Society Swim programs (Preschool, Parent and Tot, Youth, and Adult).
  2. Support the instructor by performing duties such as:
  • Assisting in the delivery of swim lessons,
  • Helping evaluate candidates,
  • Addressing questions or concerns from parents.
  • Maintain current qualifications (within two years of certification date).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Help with deck and pool setup prior to instruction and clean-up afterward.
  • Qualifications
    • Lifesaving Assistant Water Safety Instructor Certificate
    • Bronze Cross Certificate or National Lifeguard
    • Standard First Aid and CPR-C
    • Excellent physical condition
    • Ability to interact pleasantly with the public

    Hours of work will not exceed forty-eight (48) hours in a two-week period, in accordance with the C.U.P.E., Local 1146 - Inside/Part-time Unit collective agreement.
