Job summary

City of Toronto is seeking an Afterschool Recreation Care - Program Site Coordinator to plan and lead on-site ARC programs for children aged 6-12 across multiple districts. You will provide direction to staff, ensure safety standards, and coordinate with caregivers while supporting program administration and resource needs.

The role emphasizes PHCD adherence, teamwork, and responsive communication with families.

Qualifications

• Must be minimum 16 years of age.
• Post-Secondary Education or continuous enrollment in one of the listed programs (ECE, Teacher, Child & Youth, Social Work, Recreation & Leisure, Psychology, Sociology, or Kinesiology).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Intermediate First Aid – CPR C Certification including infant and child CPR as recognized by WSIB.
• Experience working with children in a leadership role and ability to supervise children.
• Ability to lift/carry equipment weighing up to 20 kgs.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to oversee and provide direction to site leaders.
• Fundamental knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
• Ability to work as part of a team in developing and delivering high quality programming.
• PHCD certification is mandatory and provided at no cost upon conditional offer.

Responsibilities

• Plans, leads and organizes ARC programs for children.
• Provides recommendations regarding training, and evaluation of ARC program leaders seasonally.
• Follows PHCD HIGH FIVE in planning and delivery of programs.
• Ensures facilities, equipment and supplies meet Health and Safety standards.
• Provides on-site direction and general guidance to staff.
• Assists with program administration and purchasing of supplies.
• Documents attendance and follows up on absences per policy; reports as needed.
• Delivers planned physical activity, nutrition information, wellness and health education.
• Supports integration of participants with special needs.
• Takes action on incidents and emergencies per city policies.
• Interacts with staff and the public to provide program information.
• Liaises with caregivers and responds to inquiries.
• Attends meetings and training sessions.
