Temporary Full-Time Seasonal Opportunities Available

The City of Delta’s Parks Operations services Delta’s three communities: Ladner, North Delta, and Tsawwassen. Exciting opportunities await individuals with a passion for horticulture, arboriculture, and landscape and turf care. We are seeking reliable, self‑motivated, and flexible team players to join our Parks/Horticulture teams in a variety of labouring positions, including Parks Maintenance Workers, Equipment Operators, Trades Gardeners and General Labourers.

These positions involve the care, maintenance, and enhancement of Delta’s parks, gardens, sports fields, and natural landscapes. Duties may include:

  • planting
  • pruning
  • mowing
  • aerating
  • fertilizing
  • turf maintenance and repair
  • irrigation system operation and maintenance
  • tree and shrub care
  • flower bed management
  • mulching
  • other groundskeeping tasks
  • operating small equipment and machinery such as mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, and similar tools

Candidates must be able to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision. Physical fitness and the ability to perform heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions are essential. Strong public relations and interpersonal skills are required, as these roles involve interacting with the public in a professional, tactful, and diplomatic manner.

A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with a safe driving record is required. Applicants must submit a current Driver’s Record showing five years history along with their application. Please have this document ready to upload when you apply. Previous experience in horticulture, arboriculture, landscaping, turf management, or groundskeeping is an asset. Training or courses in Public Works or related fields is considered an asset.

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $32.93 to $40.00 per hour (2024 rates), depending on the position awarded. Temporary full‑time employees become eligible for extended health, dental, and life insurance coverage after six months of continuous employment.
