Job summary

Town of Innisfil is seeking a Parks & Facilities Casual to join a community-focused team on a 7-month contract, 40 hours per week. You’ll perform maintenance across municipal parks, sports fields, trails, arenas, and facilities, while assisting with ice operations and event setup.

The role requires a high school diploma, valid G license, and willingness to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays; DZ license is a plus. Accommodation and support available via People & Talent.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with ice resurfacing and turf equipment preferred.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license required; DZ license an asset.
  • Willingness to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends.
  • Operational experience with parks and facilities equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and checks at parks, fields, trails, and arena facilities.
  • Assist with arena operations, ice maintenance, set-up, takedown and event support.
  • Operate and maintain assigned equipment and tools safely.
  • Complete litter removal, waste management, and basic groundskeeping.
  • Inspect facilities for hazards and report deficiencies; complete work orders.
  • Support seasonal operations such as snow clearing, salting, and flooding.
  • Provide courteous service to residents, user groups, contractors and coworkers.
  • Follow health and safety legislation and municipal policies.

Why You?

We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative self-starter who wants to make an impact on our organization and community as a Parks & Facilities Casual. As a strong team player, you will take a “Community First” approach to performing all assigned parks and facilities maintenance operational duties including:

  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and operational checks at municipal parks, sports fields, trails, community spaces, and arena facilities.
  • Assist with arena operations, including ice maintenance, facility set-up and takedown, change room preparation, and support for public skating, rentals, and special events.
  • Operate and maintain assigned equipment, vehicles, and tools safely, including tractors, mowers, line trimmers, ice resurfacers, small equipment, and hand tools.
  • Complete litter collection, waste and recycling removal, washroom cleaning, minor repairs, and general groundskeeping to maintain safe, welcoming public spaces.
  • Inspect facilities and outdoor amenities for hazards, damage, vandalism, or maintenance needs; report deficiencies promptly and complete work orders as assigned.
  • Support seasonal operations such as snow clearing, salting, flooding, and event-related set-ups.
  • Provide courteous, professional service to residents, user groups, contractors, and coworkers, responding to basic inquiries and escalating issues when required.
  • Follow all applicable health and safety legislation, municipal policies, safe-work procedures, and requirements for personal protective equipment.

The preferred candidate holds:

  • A high school diploma or a recognized equivalent.
  • Operational experience associated with ice resurfacing and turf maintenance equipment.
  • Experience in landscaping, horticulture, and sports field maintenance are all preferred.
  • The following certifications/licenses are considered assets: Basic Refrigeration Course, Standard First Aid/CPR certification, and certifications as both Certified Parks Technician (C.P.T.) and Certified Ice Technician (C.I.T.).
  • A valid Class G driver’s license in good standing is required, as is the willingness to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends.
  • A valid DZ license is an asset.

These upcoming vacancies are 7-month casual contract positions, scheduled for 40 hours per week, and include both day, evening, weekend, and statutory holiday shifts.
