Job summary

Metro Vancouver's Regional Parks Department seeks a Supervisor, Parks Construction to lead the park construction group delivering infrastructure that supports safe, accessible, and resilient regional parks. The role oversees planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of staff and contractors across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with permits and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 3 years of recent construction experience plus university degree or diploma in a relevant discipline.
• Knowledge of park capital construction methods: civil, carpentry, trails, roads, landscaping.
• Understanding of BC Building Code, WSA permitting, Heritage Conservation Act, and related permits.
• Materials, equipment and trades knowledge for park capital construction.
• Budgeting skills and ability to plan, forecast resource needs and control expenditures.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and coordinate construction staff and contractors across multiple sites.
• Hire, supervise, develop staff and ensure adherence to corporate policies.
• Ensure safe work procedures and conduct monthly safety meetings and inspections.
• Prepare letters, memos, reports, RFPs and committee reports for the construction function.
• Liaise with operations staff, public, contractors and government agencies.
