Job summary

Sobkow Technologies Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Operator to keep facilities and grounds in safe, clean, and functional condition at Souris Glenwood Parks and Recreation sites.

Responsibilities include operating grounds equipment, basic repairs, and routine inspections to support park operations and public service. The role requires collaboration with staff, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

The Maintenance Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of facilities and grounds within Souris Glenwood Parks and Recreation (SGPR). This position performs a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled custodial, maintenance, operational, and repair duties to ensure facilities, parks, and equipment are maintained to a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and functionality.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Grounds Maintenance & Operations

• Identify and report maintenance concerns and deficiencies
• Perform campground start-up and shutdown at Victoria Park Campground
• Complete daily maintenance of campground sites
• Conduct grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, and general upkeep
• Perform emergency and preventative maintenance repairs
• Follow up on assigned work orders and inspections

General Cleaning Operations

• Ensure all facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition including restrooms and dressing rooms
• Follow established procedures for cleaning materials and equipment

Facility Operations

• Provide professional and courteous service to the public
• Perform maintenance duties at various locations including:
• Victoria Park
• Municipal green spaces
• North End Park
• Souris Glenwood Memorial Complex
• Operate facility equipment including Zamboni and ice maintenance machinery
• Conduct daily facility and plant inspections
• Communicate facility status and maintenance needs with other staff
• Plumbing and heating system maintenance
• Perform preventative maintenance on building and machinery

• Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in the use of grounds maintenance equipment, hand and power tools, motorized vehicles, and small machinery

Abilities

• Ability to maintain records and assist with ordering supplies
• Ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and mechanical tasks
• Ability to read and understand WHMIS labels and safety data sheets
• Ability to safely operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, chainsaws, and weed trimmers
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to document work activities and prepare reports
• Willingness to adapt to new technologies and operational improvements
• Willingness to participate in training and professional development

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

• Grade 12, GED, or Mature High School Diploma
• Valid Class 5 Province of Manitoba Driver?s Licence
• Valid CPR and First Aid Certification
• Ice Operator or Refrigeration Certificate or willing to take

EXPERIENCE

• Experience operating grounds maintenance equipment and performing minor building and grounds maintenance is preferred
