Job summary

The City of Hamilton is seeking an Executive Manager/Deputy Chief for the Hamilton Paramedic Service. You will provide strategic leadership for Logistics and Support, including finance, procurement, fleet, facilities, supply chain, technology, and process improvement.

You will lead multi‑year budgets, drive performance, risk management, and compliance, and represent the Service before Council. This role requires proven public‑sector leadership and a commitment to high reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• 1) University degree or college diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
• 2) Certifications in logistics, supply chain, procurement or related disciplines are assets.
• 3) Class G driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• 4) 5+ years of progressive leadership in logistics, finance, procurement or operations, preferably in public sector or healthcare.
• 5) Leadership competencies fostering ownership, trust, and teamwork.
• 6) Ability to translate strategic priorities into operational plans with cross‑functional impact.
• 7) Experience in multi‑million‑dollar operating and capital budgets and financial reporting.
• 8) Experience leading procurement processes and supplier relationship management.
• 9) Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent improvements.
• 10) Experience with inventory, asset management and lifecycle planning.

Responsibilities

• Leadership and people development for Logistics and Support Services staff.
• Oversee performance management, goals, and development plans.
• Foster an inclusive, high‑reliability culture and psychological safety.
• Strategic development and cross‑functional collaboration with City leadership.
• Lead budget planning, forecasting, and financial dashboards.
• Manage procurement, contracts, and vendor performance.
• Identify process improvements and lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.
• Oversee inventory control, assets, and fleet management.
• Prepare council reports and communicate with stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with Ambulance Act, MFIPPA and OH&S.
