Job summary

City of Toronto seeks a Commander for Toronto Paramedic Services to provide strategic leadership for emergency management, preparedness, and major incident response. You will coordinate with hospitals, public health, municipal divisions, and provincial partners to ensure readiness and effective response across the City.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Public Safety, Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Business Continuity, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience leading emergency management, public safety, healthcare operations, or paramedic services in a large organization.
• Experience managing professional or program staff, including performance management and leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements strategic plans, policies, procedures, and programs to support operational readiness and emergency preparedness.
• Coordinates and manages multi-agency planning and response efforts among emergency services, hospitals, public health agencies, and municipal partners.
• Represents Toronto Paramedic Services on committees and planning initiatives at municipal, provincial, and healthcare levels.
• Leads staff development, performance management, scheduling, training, coaching, and professional growth for assigned staff.
• Manages annual operating budgets and project expenditures within approved limits.
