Job Summary

Reporting to the Deputy Chief/Manager of Logistics, the Paramedic Services Logistics Superintendent provides leadership, oversight and strategic direction for the delivery of logistics services supporting frontline paramedic operations. This position leads a team of Logistics Officers and is responsible for the effective management of procurement, inventory, equipment, medications and fleet support while ensuring operational readiness, regulatory compliance and service excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Leading and supervising a team of Logistic Officers responsible for the distribution of medical supplies, equipment, linens, medications, and controlled substances to 15 stations, 4 hospitals and over 50 frontline paramedic vehicles.
• Providing leadership in workforce management and development, including scheduling, performance oversight, staff development, and the promotion of a safe and healthy work environment.
• Overseeing the procurement of all necessary supplies, equipment, medications, and uniforms; collaborates with Supply Chain Management and Finance to support procurement processes and evaluations and vendor management.
• Ensuring compliance with the Ministry of Health Land Ambulance Certification Standards, Health Canada requirements, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and other applicable regulations governing equipment, medications, preventative maintenance, and inventory security.
• Collaboration with Energy, Fleet and Facilities, Architects, Contractors and other stakeholders to support in the design, oversight and construction of paramedic response stations, and logistical support facilities and explore energy savings/green facility initiatives including furniture and IT requirements.
• Supporting and collaborating closely with the Paramedic Fleet Coordinator on vehicle-related matters and vehicle equipment, including procurement of vehicles, equipment, and the maintenance, installation and replacement of patient equipment and technology.

Duties and Responsibilities Continued

• Providing operational advice, updates and recommendations to the Deputy Chief of Logistics.
• Monitoring industry trends and making recommendations based on research regarding changes to vehicle and equipment design features, supplies, and paramedic station facilities.
• Building and maintaining ongoing relationships with stakeholders and vendors, ensuring timely communication and addressing operational concerns.
• Representing Halton Region on provincial (Provincial Paramedic Logistics Working Group) and divisional (Uniform and Equipment Advisory) committees and panels.
• Responsible for the preparation, retention and submission of all equipment and facility-related information for the tri-annual Ministry of Health Ambulance Service Review.

Skills & Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management or an equivalent combination of education and three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience working in an inventory management, logistics or supply chain environment, preferably within a healthcare environment.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, including workforce scheduling, project planning, resource management, knowledge of procurement and evaluation processes, and budget and financial planning.
• Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management, inventory control, procurement processes, vendor evaluation and budget administration.
• Experience coordinating equipment preventative maintenance and repair programs.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Teams, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong time management skills and ability to manage workflow in order to complete work on time and as expected.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Paramedic Services and the associated medical supplies, vehicles and equipment is a key asset.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Ministry of Health Provincial Equipment Standards for Ontario Ambulance Services.
• Certification to perform preventative maintenance and repairs to specialized paramedic medical equipment is an asset.
• Knowledge and experience with SAP, Operative IQ, Vairkko and paramedic-specific vehicles and equipment is an asset.

Working/ Employment Conditions

Working Conditions:

• Routine travel will be required between Regional locations and on occasion outside Halton Region using Paramedic vehicles.
• Regular lifting and hands-on involvement to assist with supplies, equipment, and vehicle readiness. Required to lift up to 50 kg.

• The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their completed "F" class driver’s license within six months of employment.
• The incumbent will provide a current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check by first day of employment.
• The incumbent will be required to provide a current (within six months) Driver’s Abstract by first day of employment.
