Job summary

GIP Atlantic Canada Ltd. is seeking a Panel Shop Lead Hand in Fredericton, NB to lead day-to-day panel shop activities while staying hands-on in fabrication and assembly.

You will guide the team on job assignments, ensure safety, and uphold ISO 9001:2016 quality requirements, with travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in a panel shop or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of panel assembly, interpretation of drawings, component mounting and wiring.
  • Experience enforcing ISO 9001:2016 quality processes and documentation.

What You’ll Do:

As a Panel Shop Lead Hand, you'll lead day-to-day panel shop activities while remaining hands-on in fabrication and assembly. Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Lead the panel shop team in daily activities, including job assignments and administrative duties that support an efficient and productive work environment.
  • Perform hands-on panel assembly alongside supervisory responsibilities as operational needs require.
  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and procedures to protect employees and maintain a safe workplace.
  • Ensure all work products conform to the quality management system and ISO 9001:2016 requirements, including adherence to quality control processes and documentation.
  • Ensure QPS/CSA certification requirements are consistently met and followed in manufactured products.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to panel shop staff in drawing interpretation, panel layout, component mounting, wiring, assembly, testing, and drawing mark-ups/as-builts.
  • Work closely with the Project Management team on production scheduling and prioritization.
  • Support shipping and receiving duties as needed to maintain shop operations.
  • Complete other duties as required to support the success of the team and operation.

You’ll collaborate closely with project and operations teams and report directly to the Operations Manager, helping maintain technical excellence, productivity, and quality within the panel shop.

What We're Looking For:

We're excited to meet candidates who have:

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in a panel shop or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of panel assembly, interpretation of drawings, control panel layout, component mounting, wiring, and basic electrical functional testing.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and ISO 9001:2016 standards, with the ability to enforce quality control processes and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of QPS/CSA certification requirements and applicable industry standards.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, particularly when coordinating with project management on schedules and priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance leadership, hands-on work, and shifting priorities in a busy production environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Products;
  • Candidate must have an active and valid Drivers' license;
  • Candidate must be open to travel to client sites.
Compensation:

Compensation Range: $30/hr - $36/hr
