Job summary

Green Infrastructure Partners Inc. in Mississauga, Ontario seeks a Welding Lead to oversee daily shop and field operations, ensuring welding work meets quality, safety, and production standards.

You will be the technical expert for welding, fabrication, and structural maintenance at the terminal plant, coordinating tasks, reading drawings, and maintaining assets with a focus on minimizing downtime and maintaining high standards.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in pipe and structural welding.
  • Extensive experience with SMAW for in-field pipe welding.
  • Proficiency in GTAW and FCAW is preferred.
  • Holding a transferable CWB ticket is preferred.
  • Experience with NDE inspection methods (e.g., pneumatic testing, liquid penetrant testing) is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily shop or field welding operations to meet quality, safety, and production standards.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings; perform high-quality fit-up and fabrication.
  • Inspect welded assemblies and ensure structural integrity; adhere to WPS and PQRs.

Welding Lead GME Clarkson, 2201 Lakeshore Rd W, Mississauga, Ontario

SUMMARY

Reporting into the Plant Supervisor, the Welding Lead is responsible for overseeing daily shop or field operations to ensure all welding work is completed and meets strict quality, safety, and production standards. The Welding Lead is the primary technical expert responsible for all welding, fabrication, and structural maintenance at the aggregate and materials terminal plant.

PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE
Technical & Welding Skills
  • Setting up and configuring welding machines from scratch for various field conditions.
  • Perform high-quality pipe and structural welding to repair, modify, and maintain terminal plant assets.
  • Operating and setting-up torch cutting equipment safely and accurately.
  • Coordinate daily tasks to meet schedules and deadlines.
Fabrication & Blueprint Reading
  • Read, interpret, and work directly from engineering drawings.
  • Execute expert-level fit-up and fabrication on plant assets.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple ongoing terminal projects simultaneously to minimize downtime.
Quality Control & Inspection
  • Review and adhere strictly to WPS, PQRs and other welding quality control guidelines.
  • Record and report all required quality control documentation accurately and on time.
  • Inspect welded assemblies, identify defects, and conduct quality checks to ensure structural integrity.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of experience in pipe and structural welding.
  • Extensive experience with SMAW for in-field pipe welding is required.
  • Proficiency in GTAW and FCAW is preferred.
  • Holding a transferable CWB ticket is preferred.

WHAT WE OFFER
  • Expected Hourly Wage: $35 - $45 per hour. The actual hourly rate will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations.
