Job summary

Wajax, Calgary-area, is seeking a mechanically inclined assembler with basic electrical knowledge to join our industrial equipment team. You will wire, layout, and install control hardware in various panel applications and support training to build skills.

The role requires 6–12 months of similar experience or equivalent education, the ability to read drawings, and a willingness to work overtime. Safety and teamwork are core at Wajax.

Qualifications

  • 6–12 months of experience in a similar role or equivalent education.
  • Able to read electrical/mechanical drawings and interpret schematics.
  • Basic electrical knowledge.
  • Welding knowledge is an asset.
  • Willing to work overtime when required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles brackets, mounts, and supports onto power units, gensets or other industrial equipment.
  • Prepares and installs hoses (pneumatic, hydraulic, and other).
  • Performs cleaning and painting of skids, brackets, mountings, and piping.
  • Installs belts, lines, electrical wiring or harnesses and other items as required.
  • Performs all jobs neatly, accurately, and in a timely manner to meet production schedules.
  • Supports other business activities as required.
  • Maintains a strong customer focus; works with internal and external customers.
  • Understands and adheres to all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Share technical knowledge with coworkers.

Job description

Duties include wiring, layout and installation of control hardware such as PLC's, DCS systems, contactor relays, protection relays etc. in a wide variety of control panel applications. Qualification and skills include a minimum of 1 year experience, be mechanically inclined, be able to read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings as well as having strong problem solving skills. Must be able to work independently or as a team. Must be able to work overtime when needed.

Prior experience wiring control panels is a preferred but we will also offer training.

The Role

The Candidate

Education: High School Diploma or DEP preferred.

Work Experience: 6-12 months in a similar role or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Knowledge: previous experience in mechanics or equipment assembly an asset.

Basic electrical knowledge.
