Seaspan ULC in North Vancouver is seeking a Trade Supervisor, Paint (Afternoon Shift) to lead a team of painters on-site, ensuring safety, quality and production schedules are met while adhering to Seaspan standards.

You will oversee daily trade activities, coordinate with Trade Management and Unionized workers, applying health, safety and quality processes, and drive continuous improvement on the shop floor. The role offers a competitive salary, bonus eligibility, strong benefits and parking.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Journeyman Painter is highly preferred or a combination of paint-related certifications (NACE, SPCC).
• Minimum 6 years of paint-related work experience in a heavy industrial environment (preferably shipbuilding).
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
• Dedication to safety and quality, with experience in behavioural based safety.
• Proficient knowledge of trade responsibilities in heavy manufacturing/shipbuilding (welding, metal fabrication, electrical, pipefitting, paint/sandblasting, mechanical, rigging, etc.).
• Strong written, verbal and electronic communication skills.
• Time management and organization with follow-up and follow-through.
• Ability to empower others, lead changes, and coordinate discipline when required.

Responsabilités

• Accountability for safety, cost, schedule and quality performance in area of responsibility.
• Implements health, safety, environmental and quality processes and strives to eliminate safety hazards on the shop floor.
• Responsible for delivering product and customer quality standards.
• Leads team with schedule and priorities, assigning work to trade employees with the skill to complete scheduled work.
• Collaborates with management to establish daily and weekly goals and reports progress to Area Managers.
• Raises technical trade issues and implements solutions as identified.
• Follows collective agreement and standard methodologies to lead trades employees.
• Responsible for discipline, including performance and attendance management.
• Partners with Workforce Development to ensure trade employees have the skills and certifications required.
• Promotes a work environment that is respectful and harassment-free.
• Works closely with Trade Managers, HSE, Quality, HR and Employee Relations as required.
