Job summary

The Crump Group, Inc. in Mississauga, ON is seeking a Packaging Supervisor for the Day Shift to oversee receiving, processing, manufacturing, and packaging. The role focuses on directing plant efficiencies, managing resources, and meeting production goals in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing, with strong GMP/HACCP knowledge and leadership abilities. Continental day shifts and a supportive team culture are part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP and safety standards.
  • Demonstrates leadership, empathy, and ability to motivate staff.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; clear communication at all levels.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and meet production schedules.

Responsibilities

Job Overview

Packaging Supervisor – Day Shift will oversee and direct the receiving, processing, manufacturing, and packaging of products. The ideal candidate is also responsible for directing overall plant efficiencies in a cost-effective manner and for managing all plant resources and assets.

Responsibilities
  • Adheres to production schedules, assigning staff to ensure that production quotas are met for finished goods inventories. Minimizes waste and cost and ensures conformance to safety and quality standards
  • Mentors and motivates associates, providing training and development to optimize their performance and personal growth. Communicates performance standards to associates, recognizing and rewarding individual and team accomplishments and counseling performance problems.
  • Ensures Company standard practices and procedures are followed.
  • Maintains and reports production-related information regarding yields, efficiencies, and labor utilization to management.
  • Ensures compliance with all company GMP and safety standards.
  • Identifies the staffing needs for the following day or week and arranges for the presence and assignment of labor to the unit prior to line start‑up.
  • Participates in GMP, sanitation and safety inspections throughout the production departments and corrects, or issues work orders to correct, any identified deficiencies.
  • Performs other related responsibilities as needed, to support company business objectives.

  • Food Safety – Maintains compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, GMPs, and Critical Control Points.
  • Product Quality – Understands product quality checks, requirements, and all product meets quality standards
  • Schedule Attainment - Plans and leads production operations and support staff to ensure that the right people, materials, and machinery are available and ready to produce scheduled product requirements on time.
  • Leadership Credibility and Influence – You are able to connect with people at all levels in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. When you talk, people listen and respond.
  • Proactive – You continually scan the business environment for opportunities, have the ability to see around corners, anticipate and addresses issues, drive change and challenge the status quo.
Recipe for Success
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years supervisory experience or leadership role in a food manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge and compliance to the Employment Standards Act and OH&SA
  • Good Mechanical aptitude
  • Food Safety knowledge (i.e. GMP, HACCP); Food manufacturing
  • Valid Mechanic and electrical license would be considered as an asset.
  • Work schedule will be continental rotational day shifts.
  • Demonstrate qualities like empathy, support, and concern
  • Assigned tasks as per requirement.
  • Ability to motivate staff in a positive manner
  • Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot equipment
  • Team player with a positive attitude
