Job summary

McCain Foods (Canada) is seeking a Packaging Operator in Florenceville-Bristol, NB. This role focuses on the safe setup, operation, and monitoring of packaging equipment to ensure high-quality products and compliance with GMPs and food safety standards.

You will perform changeovers, monitor performance, document production activities, and support continuous improvement initiatives while working within rotating shifts. Prior experience with packaging machinery is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Knowledge of computer operations is an asset.
  • Experience operating packaging machinery is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly to unexpected situations.
  • Adaptability and willingness to embrace operational changes.
  • Successful completion of the required training period.
  • Willingness to cross-train on multiple packaging equipment platforms.

About The Role

The Packaging Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient setup, changeover, operation, and monitoring of packaging equipment to ensure the production of high-quality products. This role plays a critical part in achieving safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, and environmental (SQCDPE) objectives while maintaining compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety standards.


What You’ll Be Doing


  • Set up and operate packaging machinery, including computerized equipment.

  • Perform machinery changeovers to support production requirements.

  • Monitor machine performance and conduct quality checks on products and materials.

  • Maintain tool shadow boards and changeover carts in an organized and operational state.

  • Complete required production and quality documentation accurately.

  • Verify product codes and packaging specifications to ensure accuracy.

  • Clean and maintain work areas in accordance with GMP and food safety requirements.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support achievement of SQCDPE targets through understanding and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Cross-train on additional packaging equipment and perform other duties as assigned.


What You’ll Need To Be Successful

About The Team

The Packaging Operator is part of the Manufacturing Operations team and works closely with production, maintenance, quality, and warehouse teams to ensure efficient packaging operations. This role contributes directly to delivering safe, high-quality products while supporting plant performance goals and continuous improvement initiatives.

Compensation Package: - Starting at 25.13 CAD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
