Job summary

Purolator in Sydney, Canada seeks a Courier/Sorter Relief for a hybrid role with about 20 hours per week. The position involves dock work, loading/unloading, and delivering packages to customers as needed, with on-call coverage to cover shifts.

Pay rates are CA$19.28/hour for the Sorter shift and CA$21.84/hour for the Courier shift. A valid Class 5 license and a clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma (or completion of high school) with vocational courses preferred.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• 3 years driving experience with a clean driver’s abstract.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver customer packages to meet daily schedules.
• Load and unload trailers/trucks.
• Scan packages and manage deliveries or returns at the depot.
• Resolve problems with Dispatch and customers on the road.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections (pre/post trip) with scanner and E-DVIR.
• Unload curbside vehicles and ensure pre-scheduled departures.
• Scan, cube, and reweigh packages as required.

Description

The Courier/Sorter Relief is a hybrid role. The shift could be on the dock, loading and unloading packages from the trucks, or you could be required to work the Courier shift of delivering packages to the customers.

Called in as needed to cover shifts for 20 hours/week - Does not conform to a regular schedule.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver customer packages to meet daily pick-up and delivery schedules
• Load and unload trailers/trucks
• Scan packages / mail as it is received, delivered, or returned to the depot at the end of the day
• Resolve problems as they arise while on the road in collaboration with Dispatch and customers
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections using a package scanner and electronic-Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (E-DVIR)
• Unload all curbside vehicles
• Load line haul trailers to ensure all pre-scheduled departures are met
• Scanning/Cubing/Reweighing

Education

Completion of High School
Completion of specific vocational courses
Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Experience

3 years of driving experience and clean driver’s abstract to drive delivery vehicles.
