Job Summary

The Package Equipment Operator will be trained to operate various packaging lines and equipment used to produce salt and salt products. Safety and quality in a food-grade manufacturing environment are paramount.

Duties And Responsibilities

1. Operate bagger equipment, ensuring bags are filled and coded correctly.
2. Operate a forklift or collaborate with the forklift operator to promote safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
3. Maintain production records, check-weigh bags, and adjust scales for proper weights. Deliver salt samples to the lab as needed.
4. Perform preventive and minor maintenance on packaging equipment and assist maintenance staff with repairs.
5. Coordinate salt flow with the Mixer Operator.
6. Ensure proper coding of bags.
7. Follow daily production schedules, including special products and palletizing.
8. Conduct inventory cycle counts and monitor inventory levels of packaging materials and ingredients.
9. Strictly adhere to GMP and Food Safety standards, reporting any defects or issues.
10. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Mill Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. High school diploma or higher; certifications are an asset.
2. Experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
3. Experience with automated equipment is an asset.
4. Ability to work effectively in a team.
5. Understanding of Food Safety Process Controls and their importance.
6. Physical ability to stoop, twist, bend, reach, climb stairs/ladders, and lift up to 25 kg.

Environment

1. Work in varied temperature environments with salt dust exposure.
2. Personal Protective Equipment is required.
