The Ministry of Highways, Central Operations is seeking an Equipment Operator for the La Ronge Section. This is an entry-level position with duties including flagging and light equipment operation. It is a Labour Service/Seasonal position, subject to layoff in the fall and recall in the spring.

You must be willing and able to work in physically demanding conditions, perform physical labour, heavy lifting, and climbing. Responsibilities include keeping records and logs of hours of operation, repairs, and material application to highways. The role involves working under extreme and changing climate conditions, with travel and flexible hours required. As part of a team ensuring public safety, you'll have the opportunity to work with new technologies and equipment.

You should be approachable and flexible when dealing with the public and team members; self-motivated to complete tasks; adaptable to changing situations; and committed to working in an environment that values diversity. A graduated Class 5 License is required.

Knowledge requirements include:

  1. Basic knowledge of servicing equipment such as brooms, tractors, rollers, and light vehicles;
  2. Workplace safety and traffic control procedures (asset);
  3. Entry-level knowledge of occupational health, hazardous materials, and dangerous goods policies and practices.
