Job summary

CIMCO is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead design and detailing for complex refrigeration systems used in industrial and recreational settings. You will model components in SolidWorks, generate piping layouts in AutoCAD, and set operating conditions for equipment.

The role requires strong knowledge of refrigeration concepts and experience with routing/weldments in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and SAP. Collaboration across departments and suppliers is essential for on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• University degree/diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent with emphasis on mechanical design.
• Professional Engineering license is an asset.
• Good working knowledge of SolidWorks platform and routing/weldments modules.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with SAP software.
• Able to model refrigeration, structural and piping components.
• Familiarity with refrigeration circuits.

Responsibilities

• System design: mechanical aspects of refrigeration systems for industrial/recreational applications.
• Prepare 3D SolidWorks model and AutoCAD flow diagram based on constraints and requirements.
• Establish design/operating conditions for equipment in refrigeration systems.
• Confirm component selections: pumps, compressors, motors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, valves.
• Design routes and piping per refrigeration standards while ensuring manufacturability/servicing.
• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings and instructions.
• Create BOM and issue material requisitions in SAP.
• Supervise assembly of refrigeration systems in CIMCO facility.
• Liaise with CIMCO departments, customers, and suppliers.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing meetings.

Role Responsibilities

• System Design - Mechanical design aspects of the various types of refrigeration systems in Industrial and Recreational applications.
• Prepare 3D SolidWorks model and flow diagram in AutoCAD of system, based on known dimensional constraints, jobsite and customer requirements.
• Establish design and operating conditions for equipment to be used in refrigeration systems.
• Confirm component selections: pumps, compressors, motors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, control valves
• Design routes and piping to refrigeration standards while permitting ease of manufacturing/servicing.
• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings and instructions.
• Prepare bill of material and issue material requisitions to purchasing department with SAP software.
• Supervise assembly of refrigeration systems in CIMCO manufacturing facility
• Liaise multiple CIMCO departments, customers, and suppliers.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement /Lean Manufacturing meetings.

Required Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

• University Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with emphasis on Mechanical Design.
• Professional Engineering License is an asset
• Good working knowledge of SolidWorks platform and experience with SolidWorks Routing and Weldments modules.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with SAP software.
• Able to accurately model refrigeration, structural & piping components.
• Familiarity with basic refrigeration circuit.
• Exposure to steel, stainless steel, and copper piping, tubing & fitting nomenclature, standards and material specifications.
• Ability to work alone or in a team and accept responsibility for the work performed.
• Ability to schedule work, deal with conflicts and meet deadlines.
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications.
• Ability to document engineering design, prepare record files.
• Willing to explore and implement new ideas.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems.
