Job summary

Fernie Youth Services seeks a Youth Justice Worker for the Island Road Open Custody Program, serving boys aged 12-18 during their time in the justice system. The role involves care, supervision and mentorship in a community-based residence, coordinating with Island Road staff and external partners to support reintegration.

You will work under the Coordinator, Youth Justice Programs, linking with probation, ministry, schools and health care workers to achieve case management goals and personal

Qualifications

Post-Secondary degree or diploma in social work, criminology or relevant field.
1–3 years of experience with at-risk youth or youth in conflict with the law.
Experience with case management and mentoring of at-risk youth.
Trauma-informed approach and anti-oppression lens.
Valid driver's license and ability to drive a van in the GTA.

Responsibilities

Provide mentoring, coaching and support to youth in the program.
Create a safe, supportive environment and supervise activities.
Collaborate with stakeholders to support youth plans and referrals.
Complete CMP Reports and ensure data integrity.
Attend court as needed and liaise with families, police and ministries.
Demonstrate teamwork and model professionalism.
