Job summary

The Salvation Army in Peel Region is seeking a part-time Shelter Support Worker for weekend shifts (12am–8am). You will provide front-line service to clients in a shelter setting, ensuring safety, intake processing, and connections to social services.

You will coordinate with external agencies, uphold confidentiality, and support residents in a changing, sometimes challenging environment. The role emphasizes care, dignity, and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Formal post-secondary certificate in Social Work or related field.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• At least one year of frontline social service experience.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Ability to work in a diverse, team-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Handle routine intake processes and direct clients to shelter services.
• Record information per policy and maintain confidentiality.
• Liaise with welfare, police, medical facilities, and other agencies as needed.
• Foster positive relations with community social services resources.
• Provide frontline support, guidance, and de-escalation as necessary.
