Job summary

Edgewood Health Network, Inc. in Nanaimo, BC is seeking an overnight full-time Mental Health & Addiction Treatment Support Worker to assist with patient care and daily operations. You will work with clinical staff during the day and overnight to ensure the program runs smoothly.

Responsibilities include supporting patients, facilitating groups, and documenting progress. Qualifications include a Health Care Worker certificate and Grade 12, with night-shift availability and reading/writing ability.

Qualifications

• Certificate from a recognized Health Care Worker educational program and/or experience in related field an asset.
• Trauma informed training/experience an asset.
• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent diploma.
• Must be able to read and write and communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to understand and follow directions.
• Must be able to work night shift.

Responsibilities

• Life skills teaching opportunities such as making beds, cleaning, etc. with patients.
• Facilitate therapeutic and community meetings and address any issues/concerns or items requiring follow up
• Support patients when they are unable to remain in structure.
• Driving patients as required.
• Supporting patients when emotionally dysregulated.
• Monitor patients needing computer/phone time for issues as directed by clinical staff.
• Conduct regular rounds of the facility, checking on patients and reporting anything unusual.
• Sign out patients and record personal effects.
• Keep up to date progress notes as required.
• Check and ensure white book is up to date and managed effectively.
• Provide prescribed medications per policies.
• Monitor all activities when counselling staff are not on premises.
• Ensure offices and group rooms are locked after hours.
• Notify on-call management in emergencies.
• Document significant occurrences in logs.
• Participate in case consultation and treatment coordination.
• Administer first aid if trained.
• Housekeeping and clerical tasks as listed on duty roster.
• Answer telephone calls as instructed.
• Attend in-service workshops.
• Performs other duties as requested.
