Job summary

Kal Tire in Blackwater, BC is hiring an OTR Tire Technician / OTR Tire Technician Trainee. This role involves tire service and repair for mining equipment while adhering to safety standards. Candidates with no prior experience will receive full training.

Qualifications

• Experience as a tire technician is preferred.
• Experience in mining industry is strongly preferred.
• Ability to operate tire service equipment.
• Physically capable of handling heavy materials safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform mounting, dismounting, balancing, and repair of mining tires.
• Conduct inspections to ensure safety and performance standards are met.
• Operate tire service equipment (manipulators, forklifts, service trucks).
• Maintain required documentation within Kal Tire systems.

OTR Tire Technician / OTR Tire Technician Trainee

The Role

As an OTR Tire Technician / OTR Tire Technician Trainee, you will perform all aspects of tire service and repair for mining equipment, while upholding Kal Tire’s safety standards and service expectations. You'll play a key role in maintaining operational uptime and setting the standard for service excellence on site. Full training will be provided as a part of onboarding for candidates without prior OTR tire technician experience.

Site Details

• Location: Blackwater, BC
• Shift Options: 14/14 rotations, 12‑hour days
• Averaging agreement is required
• Bus in, Bus out (BIBO) provided from Prince George and Vanderhoof
• Camp accommodations provided at Blackwater, BC at employer's expense

Responsibilities

• Perform mounting, dismounting, balancing, and repair of mining tires
• Conduct inspections to ensure safety and performance standards are met
• Operate tire service equipment (manipulators, forklifts, service trucks)
• Work closely with site maintenance teams to support operations
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
• Support inventory management of tire‑related materials
• Maintain required documentation within Kal Tire systems

• Follow all site safety procedures and hygiene standards
• Use PPE at all times
• Report hazards and unsafe work conditions
• Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement

Requirements

• Experience as a tire technician is preferred
• Experience in mining industry is strongly preferred
• Experience with haul trucks and loaders with protection chains is an asset
• Ability to operate tire service equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Physically capable of handling heavy materials safely
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
