Job summary

Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group in Blackwater, BC is seeking an OTR Tire Technician or Trainee to service and repair mining tires while upholding safety standards. You will contribute to uptime and service excellence on site.

Full training is provided for candidates without prior OTR experience. The role involves 12-hour shifts on a 14/14 rotation, with a competitive hourly rate and benefits that include health, dental, vision, RRSP, and DPSP.

Qualifications

• Experience as tire technician preferred.
• Mining industry experience strongly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and criminal record check.
• Ability to operate tire service equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform mounting, dismounting, balancing, and repair of mining tires.
• Conduct inspections to ensure safety and performance standards are met.
• Operate manipulators, forklifts, and service trucks.
• Work closely with site maintenance teams to support operations.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Assist in inventory management of tire-related materials.
• Maintain required documentation within Kal Tire systems.

The Role

As an OTR Tire Technician/ OTR Tire Technician Trainee, you will perform all aspects of tire service and repair for mining equipment, while upholding Kal Tire’s safety standards and service expectations. You’ll play a key role in maintaining operational uptime and setting the standard for service excellence on site.

Full training will be provided as a part of onboarding for candidates without prior OTR tire technician experience

Site Details

• Location: Blackwater, BC
• Shift Options: 14/14 rotations, 12-hour days
• Averaging agreement is required
• Bus in, Bus out (BIBO) provided from Prince George and Vanderhoof
• Camp accommodations provided at Backwater, BC at employer's expense.

• Operate tire service equipment (manipulators, forklifts, service trucks)
• Work closely with site maintenance teams to support operations
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
• Support inventory management of tire-related materials
• Maintain required documentation within Kal Tire systems.

• Use PPE at all times
• Report hazards and unsafe work conditions
• Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement

Requirements

• Experience as a tire technician is preferred
• Experience in mining industry is strongly preferred
• Experience with haul trucks and loaders with protection chains is an asset
• Ability to operate tire service equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Physically capable of handling heavy materials safely
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
