Job summary

Kal Tire Mining Tire Group is seeking an OTR Tire Technician to service and repair mining tires on-site, ensuring safety and load compliance. You will operate heavy-duty tire servicing equipment and work closely with mine maintenance staff to maintain high service standards.

The role emphasizes on-site tire inspections, inventory support, and adherence to Kal Tire safety protocols. Strong mechanical aptitude and teamwork are essential, with accommodations provided as part of the shift schedule.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience as a tire technician in a related field, preferably within the mining sector.
  • Experience with Komatsu haul trucks and Giant loaders with protection chains is highly preferred.
  • Ability to operate and maintain tire manipulators, forklifts, and service trucks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Ensure tires are mounted and repaired safely, following load requirements and safety standards.

  • Maintain an orderly and safe work environment, ensuring that tire service equipment and tools are properly maintained.
  • Assist in maintaining stock for tire-related equipment and ensure the warehouse is clean and organized.

OTR Tire Technician

Shift- 7 days on, 7 days off + accommodation (no fly in fly out)

As a Tire Technician in the Mining Tire group, you will be responsible for all aspects of tire and related service and repair for mining tires and adhering to Kal Tire’s work and safety standards. A key part of this role is setting the standard for service excellence within the industry and demonstrating the Kal Tire AIMS.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment
  • Comply with all site safety regulations and hygiene standards.
  • Report hazards and unsafe conditions to your Supervisor or Lead Hand.
  • Always use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to improving safety practices on site.
