Job summary

Kal Tire is seeking an OTR Tire Technician for Greenhills Mine BC to perform mining tire service and repair work on rotating shifts with provided housing. You will dismount, mount, balance, and repair tires, while following Kal Tire safety standards and contributing to a high‑quality service experience.

The role requires several years of tire experience, proficiency with heavy equipment, and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• At least two years of tire technician experience, preferably mining.
• Experience with Komatsu haul trucks and Giant loaders is preferred.
• Ability to operate tire servicing equipment and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform dismounting, mounting, balancing, and repairing of tires for mining vehicles.
• Ensure tires are mounted and repaired safely, following load requirements and safety standards.
• Conduct tire inspections, equipment checks, and maintenance tasks.
• Assist mine maintenance staff as required, supporting their operations with timely tire services.
• Maintain an orderly and safe work environment, ensuring that tire service equipment and tools are properly maintained.
• Assist in maintaining stock for tire-related equipment and ensure the warehouse is clean and organized.

OTR Tire Technician

Location- Greenhills Mine BC

Shift- 7 days on, 7 days off + accommodation (no fly in fly out)

As a Tire Technician in the Mining Tire group, you will be responsible for all aspects of tire and related service and repair for mining tires and adhering to Kal Tire’s work and safety standards. A key part of this role is setting the standard for service excellence within the industry and demonstrating the Kal Tire AIMS.

Key Highlights of this role

• You will perform tire service and maintenance for mining vehicles, including dismounting, mounting, balancing, and repairing tires, ensuring they meet safety and load requirements.
• You will operate heavy-duty tire servicing equipment and tools, demonstrating expertise in maintaining and repairing mining tire equipment.
• You will work in close collaboration with mine maintenance staff, ensuring operational efficiency while adhering to Kal Tire’s safety protocols.
• You will ensure tire inspections and maintenance programs are consistently performed on-site, maintaining the highest service standards.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment

• Comply with all site safety regulations and hygiene standards.
• Report hazards and unsafe conditions to your Supervisor or Lead Hand.
• Always use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols.
• Participate in safety meetings and contribute to improving safety practices on site.

Qualifications and Success

• At least two years of experience as a tire technician in a related field, preferably within the mining sector.
• Experience with Komatsu haul trucks and Giant loaders with protection chains is highly preferred.
• Ability to operate and maintain tire manipulators, forklifts, and service trucks.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Ability to lift heavy loads and perform physical tasks safely in a mining environment.

Special Requirements

• A valid driver’s license and the ability to comply with relevant insurance policies.
• Secondary school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications and training are preferred.
