Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Organizational Development, the Organizational Development (OD) Consultant will work across the organization to design and implement key initiatives critical to the people and culture components of the Osler strategic plan as well as work with clients to identify emerging business needs and design appropriate solutions to support the strategic direction and transformation of our organization.

The core purpose of the OD Consultant is to act as a strategic partner within Osler and to help build Osler’s leadership and organizational capability/capacity by designing/facilitating sustainable Talent Management and change initiatives within a uniquely complex healthcare environment.

The OD Consultant applies a ‘systems thinking’ approach to this work, and uses diagnostic models, data gathering, and research to design and deliver both organizational programs, as well as for specific client solutions.

In this work, the OD Consultant designs and applies leading edge tools and frameworks for effective performance management, leadership development, succession planning, learning and development, recognition systems, and organizational and team effectiveness to foster transformation and impact performance at the employee, leader and enterprise level.

Accountabilities

  • Working with senior human resources professionals and senior management, helps shape the development and delivery of an integrated engagement and talent management strategy to enhance and maintain excellence in the current and future generations of Osler leaders
  • Responsibility for higher level OD and change work that is iterative, non-linear and complex in nature. Strong intuition and creativity is required in the face of missing foundations, infrastructure and/or the absence of established best practice
  • Works proactively with stakeholders/business partners to design, develop and implement strategies and solutions to achieve desired change, designing Talent Management systems/processes, and facilitating team dynamics and other strategies to enhance effectiveness
  • Advises and guides management on organizational development, talent management and change management matters based on best practice in order to raise the bar on individual, unit and organizational performance
  • Leads or supports the development of various OD and change initiatives including, but not limited to, leadership, employee engagement, learning, culture change/renewal, performance management and employee development
  • Ensure projects align with Osler’s strategic priorities and planning goals
  • Supports the development and implementation of talent and succession management strategies to identify and support the growth of current and future leaders
  • Delivers and designs programs at the enterprise level, requiring strong diagnostic, influencing and stakeholder management abilities
  • Works with leaders at all levels to implement solutions
  • Provides consulting services to address complex workplace issues, typically dealing with unit/team dynamics and effectiveness
  • The OD Consultant is often engaged by Human Resources or leaders for either consulting support and/or direct client engagement, based on complexity
  • Applies best practices to elevate organizational, team and individual performance
  • Develops metrics and monitors the effectiveness of their work and recommends improvements or other solutions as required
  • Identifies areas of resistance or disengagement and recommends solutions to address these issues
  • Evaluates services using data to ensure interventions meet desired outcomes
  • Sources, establishes and maintains a network of consultants and industry experts to resource projects; acts as primary liaison between internal partners and external consultants; negotiate terms and conditions of consulting contracts
  • Remains current in the practice of organizational development through ongoing professional development; researches and implements leading edge best practice in alignment with probable future needs in the organization

Qualifications

  • Completion of a university or college degree/diploma in business, organizational development, human resources management or a related field (combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent)
  • Minimum five years progressive experience practicing organizational development in large, complex organizations
  • Previous experience working within healthcare/ public sector environment is an asset
  • Significant stakeholder management and influencing skills are required, often dealing with matters of a complex or systemic nature
  • Provide consulting advice and subject matter expertise to Human Resources, as well leaders at levels, including SLT, to drive greater organizational, department and team performance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OD theories and principles, including talent and change management methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of leadership and employee development programming, employee engagement, change and transformation, performance management systems, group dynamics and facilitation, improving organizational effectiveness, etc.
  • Strong diagnostic and consulting capability, utilizing systems thinking and action research methodology
  • Demonstrated facilitation, influencing, project management and change management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities, typically involving senior leadership as key audiences
  • Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration

Hours: Currently days (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Hybrid: Roles that function remotely, but require essential, regular onsite weekly work

Annual Salary

Minimum: $ 96,681.00

Maximum: $120,841.50
